Find Happiness: You deserve this

Happiness is tricky. It’s something we all want, but there is no one way to get there. 

There isn’t a specific route you can take to achieve happiness, and even if you do all the “right” things, you may still feel unhappy with your life. 

When I work with my clients, my goal is to help them unpack how each element of their life is either contributing or taking away from their happiness. What I’ve found is that sometimes the key to feeling happier can be found through methods you wouldn’t normally consider.

For example, did you know that a majority of your serotonin is found in your gut? If you’re eating an unbalanced diet or consuming foods that you have a sensitivity to, you could really be messing with your overall mood. 

This connection is well-known among the health coaching community, but not nearly as known throughout the general population.

Beyond diet and exercise

Instead, this concept refers to the other aspects of our life that feed, nourish, and satisfy us.

From the relationships we hold to the career we’re in, these alternate forms of energy also feed us. ⁠

Social life, Relationships, Joy, Learning, Home cooking, physical activity, education, home environment are a few examples of other Primary Food Areas In Someone’s Life.

They give us feelings of love, worth, and intimacy.

They provide us with the serotonin, dopamine, and other chemicals we need to feel happy and fulfilled. ⁠

They provide us with the motivation we need to set goals, aspire to great things, and reach our full potential as human beings. Unfortunately, it is incredibly common to see primary food deficiencies. ⁠



Let’s work together to identify how you’re getting your primary foods incorporated into your life ⁠, where you’re depleted, where there is room to grow and work together to provide a plan of nourishment in the previous areas of depletion.

Are you sure you’re right?

Test Your Assumptions

Here’s a task for you, think of an opinion that you feel strongly about – a political belief or a current headline is a good place to start.⁠⠀ ⁠⠀

Next, work at proving your point wrong. This is a tactic often used in a debate. In order to have a plausible argument, you must know the opposing side’s views. The process of⁠ learning both sides of a topic may lead to a change in your opinion, or it can strengthen your opinion while giving you more information to back up your view.

In the end, you should walk away with more understanding of the topic which will help you expand your mind and the way you think about the world.⁠⠀ ⁠⠀

This is an exercise that you can do with a friend, family member, or anyone else who you feel comfortable around – because this activity is all about getting OUT of your ⁠comfort zone! ⁠It’s also a good way to practice respecting others’ views.⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀

Forget about the past

Stop letting the past define your future!⁠

Everyone has made mistakes, and it can be difficult to forget about events and circumstances that caused us pain, and we can’t let those mistakes keep us from moving forward and trying new things.⁠

If you feel anxieties about your past, remember that not everyone recognizes the event the same way. ⁠

In fact, chances are that your version of the story is entirely different (and probably much more exaggerated) than what other people recall.⁠

Keep in mind also that mistakes and failures act as a way for us to learn and grow. When you’re having trouble letting go, take a step back and ask yourself what lessons can be learned from the event.⁠

Some of the most significant discoveries throughout history are a result of mistakes! It’s all a matter of perspective. ⁠

Remember that the past doesn’t ⁠have to define you OR limit you.

We all Begin Somewhere

2019 – 2021

I am happy to share this as inspiration for others to take accountability for their best selves. I believe there is nothing more important than all of us to be living in true alignment with what we are here to do, whatever that may be. As a Coach, I am here to help you discover what that means for you individually.

Check your diet: Remove the foods that fail you, incorporate foods that fuel you

Eating foods that support your body’s natural ability to detox is a great way to flush out toxins and start feeling better. ⁠ ⁠

Let’s take a look at some foods that can help: ⁠ ⁠

Chlorella: These freshwater algae, native to Taiwan and Japan, have tons of phytonutrients, amino acids, chlorophyll, beta-carotene, potassium, biotin, magnesium, and B vitamins. Specifically, chlorella helps your body expel heavy metals like lead, cadmium, mercury, and uranium. ⁠ ⁠

Spirulina: A cousin of chlorella, this type of algae packs so many nutrients that NASA now sends it into space for astronauts to consume to stay healthy. ⁠ ⁠

Ginger: This familiar root stimulates digestion, circulation, and sweating, which are the body’s three main avenues of natural detoxification! Ginger also helps your body maintain digestive enzymes that are important for keeping issues like gas and bloating at bay. ⁠ ⁠

Leafy Greens: Veggies like spinach, kale, moringa leaf, alfalfa, and parsley should be incorporated into as many of your meals as possible. Not only are these greens packed with vitamins and minerals that play a role in the natural detoxification process, but they’re full of fiber, which makes them slow to digest and good for detoxifying your bowels.

This weeks challenge is to incorporate one of these ingredients into your meal plan for the week!

What are your toxins? ⁠

Identifying Your Toxins⁠

When we think of “detox,” we think juice cleanses and clean eating, but detox is so much more than that! ⁠

From your laundry detergent to your night cream, from the relationships you have to the tools you cook with, toxins can be found more readily than you might imagine. ⁠

Unfortunately, we can’t escape all the toxins all the time. The process of detoxification refers not only to eliminating toxic elements from your life but also refers to the incorporation of positive elements. ⁠

Today’s challenge is to take some time to consider HOW toxic you think your lifestyle is as it stands today. Ask yourself these questions: ⁠⁠

  1. Do I read labels before I bring a product into my home or put it on/into my body? ⁠
  2. Do I suffer from any digestive related health issues? ⁠
  3. Do I suffer from any breathing/respiratory-related health issues? ⁠
  4. Do I experience skin sensitivities? ⁠
  5. Do I experience high levels of stress? ⁠

If you answered no to the first question and yes to any of the following questions, it’s quite possible that you’ve been exposing yourself to toxins that are affecting the health of your body. ⁠

Pink Himalayan Salt

Pink Himalayan salt has an ENORMOUS amount of health benefits, especially in
comparison to its more widely known household counterpart, traditional table
salt.

Traditional table salt that we all know and love, is heavily processed, bleached
and heated. The heating process changes the chemical structure of sodium chloride,
turning it into a state that is not NATURAL, and is different from what our bodies
are designed to digest and utilize. As an extra bonus, an additive called calcium
silicate is added to prevent the salt from forming into clumps.

Not ideal if you are trying to go the natural/organic route. Your body requires NATURAL! I truly believe that Mother Nature knows best, and the fewer ingredients, the better!

Introducing, Pink Himalayan Salt!

Not only is it organic, the list of health benefits (and other bonuses) goes on…

Its antioxidants and electrolytes allow for increased physical and mental energy levels to start. Pink Himalayan salt, unlike traditional table salt, can actually DECREASE your blood pressure.  It is packed with minerals that help regulate sodium levels and stabilize your heartbeat.

It also helps your body improve the amount of nutrients you can absorb through
the food that you eat.

And as a bonus, it can also be used to balance PH levels by reducing excess acidity in the blood, which is also essential for eliminating inflammatory reactions and chronic diseases! Move your own way⁠

Make Physical Activity A Daily Habit ⁠ ⁠

A gym membership isn’t for everyone, so don’t feel ashamed for not wanting to go! ⁠ ⁠

While physical exercise is crucial for our health, it’s equally as important to find a way to move that you actually enjoy and can benefit from. ⁠ ⁠

If you’re forcing yourself to run on the treadmill, go to a spin class, or do push-ups in your room and you’re not enjoying it, then it might be time to try something else. Just because your sister loves hot yoga, or your best friend loves mountain biking doesn’t mean that you’re going to love those activities! ⁠ ⁠

The good news is that there are hundreds of ways to get your heart rate up, and sometimes all you need is a little encouragement or some additional information.⁠ It’s very likely that if you’ve ever claimed, “exercise isn’t for me,” that you just haven’t found the right way to exercise yet.⁠ ⁠

Something I like to remind my clients is that exercise doesn’t need to involve buckets of sweat, hours of time, or fancy equipment—it just has to get you moving and make you feel good. ⁠
